His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco created his foundation for the purpose of protecting the environment & encouraging sustainable development. The Foundation strives to act as an accelerator of innovative cleantech projects and solutions targeting three major envrionmental issues; climate change, biodiversity & water.
Mungo Park, Chairman of Innovator Capital, has been an investment banker, on both sides of the Atlantic, for 30 years focussing exclusively on emerging technologies. He was previously at Cowen & Co., Alex. Brown and Head of Corporate Finance at Nomura International.
Marc Weiss is the Open Field Chief Investment Officer and a member of its four person Investment Committee. Mr. Weiss joined Open Field full time in 2005. Open Field has been researching AI since 2006 and directly investing since 2011.
Mr. Weiss joined Amerindo Investment Advisors Inc. in 1994 and became its Director of Research in 2002 as well as serving as one of five members of its Investment Committee. Prior to joining Amerindo Mr. Weiss was a Senior Associate Engineer with IBM between 1989 and 1992 where he authored 2 patents (5670018 and 6258497). Mr. Weiss is a founder of Open Field Capital LLC.
Mr. Weiss holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.
Harvey is a real-life rocket scientist, data scientist and thought leader with nearly 25 years of experience in the domains of analytics, machine learning and cybersecurity. He has worked for clients in the public, private and charity sectors, including defence and national security, banking and retail. He is a regular public speaker, commentator and writer, focusing on innovation, disruptive technology and government policy.
Unusually, as well as being an accomplished leader and strategist, Harvey is a proficient data scientist with considerable experience of supervised and unsupervised machine learning (clustering/segmentation, classification and predictive analytics), natural language processing (NLP), image processing, geospatial analysis, and social network analysis.
Harvey is a former member of the UK Public Sector Transparency Board and the Open Data User Group. He lives in the South Downs National Park in Hampshire with his wife and two sons.
Julia is co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Meridiam Infrastructure and sits on the Board of Meridiam SAS. In addition, she is a non-executive director at the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, a member of the Advisory Board of Glennmont Partners, a fund focussed on renewable energy and a Visiting Professor at the Bartlett School, University College London.
She has been directly involved in long term infrastructure development and investment (25 year maturity) in UK, Europe, North America and Africa as part of the equity only Meridiam funds (established from 2005 with AUM c£6bn) in energy, transport, environmental and social projects. These include the new lines of the Nottingham Tram, roads in Scotland and the Isle of Wight, university projects and 41 small hospital (LIFT) projects. Currently she is involved in developing major interconnector projects in the UK as well as her global activities. The main contributors to the Meridiam funds are pension funds (around 20% coming from the UK), insurance companies and development institutions.
Julia has an extensive history and background in infrastructure investment, having acted as an investor, adviser both to Governments and to the private sector and provider of debt and junior funding in respect of a large number of major infrastructure projects around the globe over decades. Julia's past roles have included Head of Project Finance at Hill Samuel in London, Co-Head of Project Advisory at Charterhouse Bank and Senior Director and Head of Eurozone Infrastructure Finance at Bank of Scotland.
George Coelho is a Senior Advisor to Impact Investor Quadia SA. He is also today, Chairman of Rome/London based Octo Telematics. He was previously Managing Director and Head of Venture Capital of Good Energies. George co-founded Balderton Capital in 2000 and served as General Partner. Prior to this George spent nine years at Intel Corporation, where he founded and led the international strategic investment group of Intel Capital.
George led all of Intel's strategic venture capital investment activities outside the United States. At Intel, George built a team that made more than 100 venture capital investments internationally. George also previously headed the M&A and strategic investing group in Intel's Treasury as an Assistant Treasurer. George has also held senior executive positions with Union Bank of Switzerland and with Nomura Securities Co. Ltd.
George holds a MBA from George Washington University and a B.S. in Business Administration from American University.
Matt is a Chartered Manager with expertise in a diverse range of business he has operated at director level for companies within the UK and internationally.
Matt specialises in business and operations strategy, modularisation in manufacturing, operational logistics, organisational effectiveness & new venture development.
In 2006 Matt received the Management Consultancies Association Gold Award for best operational Improvement in the private sector and in 2007 he received a Manager of the Year Award from the Chartered Management Institute. Matt is a member of the Institute of Directors
In addition Matt is a recognised industry expert in off-site manufacturing and Modern Methods of Construction; he regularly speaks at conferences and advises a number of clients on off-site design, strategy and development.
Project experience includes Off-Site production of industrial facilities, Hotels, Schools, high value add modules such as data hubs and hospital facilities. In addition Matt was involved in all aspects of planning and development for the Meteor and MOVOCOSY volumetric modular housing systems. Responsibilities included product and process development, site, and facility layout design, design of operating structure, supply chain development, financial planning, timing and implementation planning. Matt is a member of Build Off-Site where he Chairs the Manufacturing Hub.
Professor Tom Stephenson is internationally known and respected as one of the UK's foremost academic experts in the water and wastewater industry.
Tom as appointed in 2014 as Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research and Innovation of Cranfield University (www.cranfield.ac.uk), the UK's only exclusively postgraduate university specialising in technology and management. Previously, he was Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the School of Applied Sciences at Cranfield. Tom has a PhD from Imperial College, London, is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng).
He was Chairman of British Water from 2010 until 2012, the UK's trade body representing the water industry supply chain with over 200 members and an annual turnover in water related business of £1.2 billion.
Tom is also Chairman of Water Innovate, a commercial spin-out of Cranfield's Water Science Institute, which was acquired by Bluewater Bio (www.bluewaterbio.com) in 2010.
Francisco Webber is the Founder and CEO of Cortical.io, a company that develops Natural Language Processing solutions for Big Text Data.
Francisco's medical background in genetics combined with over two decades of experience with search engine technologies and documentation systems, inspired him to create a groundbreaking technology, called Semantic Folding, which is based on the latest findings on the way the human neocortex processes information.
Prior to Cortical.io, Francisco founded Matrixware Information Services, a company that developed the first standardized database of patents. Francisco also initiated the Information Retrieval Facility, a non-profit research institute, with the objective of bridging the gap between science and industry in the information retrieval domain.
Andrew Jack chairs the firm's Clean Energy and Climate industry group and has a diverse corporate and securities practice with clients principally in the solar, advanced vehicles, industrial manufacturing, and sports and entertainment industries. He is ranked as a leading corporate lawyer by Chambers USA and he regularly advises corporations, board committees, and other forms of enterprises in mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, financing activities, Sarbanes-Oxley and 1934 Act compliance, corporate governance counseling, and executive compensation arrangements.
Mr. Jack is a frequent speaker at clean energy conferences and he works closely as the firm's membership liaison to SEIA and ACORE on a variety of matters to advance opportunities in clean energy, including as a founding member of the planning committee for SEIA's Solar Finance Conferences and as a co-chair of ACORE's Transportation Advisory Committee.
Prof Peter Head is a civil and structural engineer who has become a recognised world leader in major bridges, advanced composite technology and in sustainable development in cities and regions. He held senior global Director responsibilities in Maunsell, AECOM and Arup and worked on projects all over the world, including major private finance initiative infrastructure projects for governments.
In 2008 he was named by the Guardian Newspaper as one of 50 people that could ‘save the planet’.
He was cited by Time magazine in 2008 as one of 30 global eco-heroes and has been one of CNN’s Principle Voices. In 2011 he was awarded the CBE in the New Year’s Honours List for services to Civil Engineering and the Environment.
In April 2011 he left Arup to set up The Ecological Sequestration Trust.
Peter was a member of the Planetary Health Commission of Lancet, Economist Intelligence Unit and Rockefeller Foundation that reported in 2015.
Peter is on the advisory board of Swansea University SPECIFIC KIC developing “buildings as power stations”
Peter is visiting professor in sustainable systems engineering at University of Bristol.
Paul is co-founder and Managing Partner of SLM Partners, an investment management firm that acquires and manages rural land on behalf of institutional investors. He leads the development of new investment strategies within the firm. He is a principal and Investment Committee member for the SLM Australia Livestock Fund, which has acquired 1 million acres of land in Australia for grassfed beef cattle production. He plays the same role for the firm's new Irish forestry fund, the SLM Silva Fund. He is also helping to develop new investment strategies focused on ecological farming in the USA.
Previously, Paul was Vice-President at Climate Change Capital Ltd, where he led a team developing a strategy for a global farmland fund, and, before that, an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in New York. He has also acted as an advisor on sustainable agriculture to the UN Food & Agriculture Organisation and The Prince of Wales's International Sustainability Unit. In 2013 he published a book on the global food system titled Feeding Frenzy: The New Politics of Food. He has also authored white papers on the investment cases for ecological farming and continuous cover forestry. He is a frequent speaker on sustainable agriculture, food security and impact investing. Paul holds a PhD from Cambridge University and a BA from University College Dublin.
Simon Amies is a corporate partner based in Covington's London office and a member of the firm's Clean Energy and Climate industry group. He has considerable experience advising emerging and growth companies, investment banks and investors on acquisitions and disposals, IPOs and other securities offerings, venture capital investments, and joint ventures and other strategic transactions.
Scott Anthony advises public and private companies and entrepreneurs on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital investments, strategic investments, joint ventures and other transactional matters. His clients include internet, social networking, online gaming, clean technology, software, networking and communications, semiconductor, energy storage and life sciences companies.
His practice focuses on companies with connections between China and the US. It includes inbound and outbound cross-border acquisitions and strategic investments between US and China based companies, financing of venture backed companies based in China and the US and joint ventures with China based partners.
Having joined Bryden Wood shortly after the practice's formation in 1995, Jaimie has a particular interest in the processes used to organise projects; controlling the flow of information and delivery to dramatically improve efficiency in design and construction.
These techniques have been implemented on a number of large projects such as London Heathrow Terminal 5, Terminal 2 and major frameworks for clients including GlaxoSmithKline, the Metropolitan Police Authority, the Ministry of Justice, London 2012 Olympics Athletes' Village and on the Circle rollout of private hospitals.
Jaimie is a member of the UK Government Cabinet Office BIM Core Team, coordinating work packages relating to productivity and delivery, and was instrumental in delivering implementation strategies and early adopter projects in the public sector.
Jaimie is the Head of Global Systems at Bryden Wood - this includes both physical systems (design for manufacture and component build solutions for healthcare, education, aviation, pharmaceutical and infrastructure projects) and information systems (data analysis, digital delivery and BIM) for projects in the UK, Europe, Russia and Singapore.
Detlef Schoen is one of very few Ag Investment practitioners who combine high-level executive experience in global agribusiness with hands-on farming credentials.
Detlef is looking back at over 30 years of multi-billion-dollar global experience in commodities and agribusiness. After completing a degree in agronomics he began his career with Cargill - having held a range of positions at the firm, Detlef was Country Manager, Cargill Germany and Managing Director of Cargill's European Grain Business. He then ran his own farm services and grain merchandising business for a time before returning to global agribusiness as Managing Director, Global Grains for NIDERA.
Having left trade and agribusiness, Detlef went on to build the Aquila Capital agricultural investment business, which at its peak had abt. USD 500 m assets under management. Since this time he has become noted as "independent thinker" in the ag investment universe, leading to frequent speaker roles at international investor conferences.
Since 1991 Detlef has been farming beef cattle - initially in Germany, more recently in Australia where he now spends most of his time. His advisory company DS Green Assets is acting as an agricultural and agribusiness investment manager, capitalizing on his global experience and network.
Daniel is the CEO of Satalia that provides AI inspired solutions to solve industries hardest problems. He’s the co-founder of the ASI that transitions scientists into industry as data-scientists. Daniel has a Masters and Doctorate in AI from UCL, and is Director of UCL’s Business Analytics MSc; applying AI to solve business/social problems. He lectures in Computer Science and Business. Daniel has Advisory and Executive positions in many companies, he holds an international Kauffman Global Entrepreneur Scholarship and actively promotes entrepreneurship and technology innovation across the globe.
